Fumigation
Fumigation is a disinfection method used to fight against insects and other pests (fungus, bacteria, etc.). During the process, pests are destroyed by a gaseous chemical substance (fumigant). It has the following advantages over other spraying methods: (1) It is applied directly to the contaminated product, (2) It penetrates to the depths of the product due to its high diffusion, (3) It is applied to a large amount of products in a short time, (4) It is applied in all biological stages of pests (eggs, larvae , nymph, pup and adult stages) are effective. The fumigation process usually includes the following steps: 1) Creating a closed environment: the area intended for fumigation is completely covered. The fumigant is then left in the area to be fumigated. During the process, that area is kept isolated for a certain period of time. Finally, the space is ventilated so that toxic gases can escape and it is safe for people to enter. If the application is successful, the fumigated area is now considered safe and pest-free.
